About us
The Picard lab studies the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that ensure proper germline development. We use a combination of single-cell sequencing, bioinformatics analysis, and molecular biology to answer fundamental questions about multicellular development. We primarily work on plant pollen, but also contribute our computational expertise to collaborative projects with labs working on animal models, primarily C. elegans.

Lab News
Dr. Picard spent the last two weeks in Montréal, where she first presented a seminar at the Université de Montréal Institute de recherche en biologie végétale (IRBV), followed by an invited talk at the CEEHRC 12th annual Canadian Conference on Epigenetics.
Welcome to our two new MSc students, Jacob Akil and Paul Song, as well as new undergraduate student Gretl Baghdadi!
Thank you to our three fantastic undergrads this summer! Zoe Chung helped set up the lab space and did our first ever pilot experiments in the lab, while Darius Fleischmann and Kinley Padon worked on some Arabidopsis and C. elegans genomics analyses, respectively.
The lab website is now up. Please check out our research and open positions.
The Picard lab opens at the University of Toronto! Pardon our dust while we get up and running…
